Privacy Policy

1. Person in charge of the protection of personal information

The person in charge of the protection of personal information at Lesjobines.ca oversees the application of this policy. For any question, access request or complaint, write to info@lesjobines.ca.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we collect:

• Account: first name, last name, email address, password (stored only in irreversibly hashed form), language, confirmation that you are 18 or older and acceptance of the legal documents.
• Sign-in with Google: if you choose this option, your name, email address and Google account identifier.
• Profile: photo, bio, city, and for taskers, skills, rate, service area, categories and portfolio.
• Jobs and exchanges: job descriptions, photos, address, dates and budget, offers, public questions, private messages and attachments, reviews.
• Security: IP address and browser associated with your sessions, sign-in attempts, and for administrators, two-factor authentication.
• Audience measurement: information described in section 3.

3. Audience measurement

To understand how the site is used, improve it and protect it against abuse, we record the visits of everyone who browses it: IP address, approximate location derived from that address (country, region, city) and internet provider, browser type, operating system and device, pages viewed, time spent and referring site. A visitor identifier is kept in your browser's storage. If you are signed in, the visit is associated with your account.

The location is derived from the IP address using a database hosted on our own servers: the IP address is not sent to any third-party service for this purpose. This information is used only for our internal statistics; it is never used for advertising and never sold. Detailed visits are deleted after 90 days; only aggregate statistics that cannot identify you are kept beyond that. You may object to this measurement by writing to us.

4. How we use your information

Your information is used to:

• create and manage your account, and let you post jobs, make offers, exchange messages and leave reviews;
• show jobs and profiles near you;
• send you the emails your account requires, such as confirming your address;
• keep the site secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms of use;
• produce usage statistics and improve the service.

5. What others can see

Your public profile, published jobs, public questions and reviews received are visible to other users and to site visitors. A job's exact address is never shown publicly: only an approximate position, rounded to about 500 metres, and the city are displayed. Private messages are visible only to the participants in the conversation, and to the moderation team if a message is reported.

6. Service providers and disclosure outside Quebec

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We use service providers that process some information on our behalf, solely for the needs of the service:

• Microsoft Azure (Canada): hosting of the site and files such as photos.
• Neon (United States): database hosting.
• MangoMail: sending emails.
• komoot, Photon service (Germany): address suggestions based on the text you type in an address or city field.
• OpenStreetMap Foundation (United Kingdom): map tiles, which receive your browser's IP address.
• Google (United States): only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.

7. Cookies and browser storage

We use no advertising cookies or third-party tracking tools. The site uses:

• lj_refresh: keeps your session open (30 days at most); not accessible to scripts.
• lj_csrf: protects your actions against forged requests.
• lj-theme: remembers your light or dark display preference.
• lj_vid and lj_visit: anonymous identifiers used by audience measurement (section 3).
• The anti-bot check is performed by our own server, with no third-party service and no cookie.

8. Retention

Your information is kept as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your information is deleted or anonymized 30 days after your request. Some items needed for other users' history, such as a review, may be kept in a form that no longer identifies you. Detailed audience-measurement visits are deleted after 90 days, and data download links expire after 24 hours.

9. Your rights

At any time, you may:

• access your information and obtain a copy: data export is available in Settings › Privacy;
• have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected, directly in your settings or by writing to us;
• withdraw your consent or delete your account, in Settings › Privacy;
• object to audience measurement or ask any question by writing to info@lesjobines.ca.
• We respond to your request within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca).

10. Security

Communication with the site is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored in irreversibly hashed form, repeated sign-in attempts are blocked and access to data is limited to those who need it. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the persons concerned, as required by law.

11. Minors

Lesjobines.ca is reserved for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information about minors.

12. Changes

We may change this policy. The last update date appears at the top of the page. If a change is significant, we will inform you and, where needed, ask for your acceptance again.
